Can a freestanding fireplace be against the wall?

Freestanding ethanol fireplaces may not be placed against any wall that is combustible. This includes walls made of drywall. A freestanding fireplace should be placed at least 24" from a combustible wall. They can, however, be placed against brick, stone, cement, or other non-combustible walls.
